Jobim and Regina - Corcovado
Rustic Materials is an American band and musical project based in Atlanta. Brazilian music including Bossa Nova, Samba and MPB.
Paulo Jobim, Danilo Caymmi and Paula Morelenbaum during performance rehearsals for the Prêmio Awards (Brazil’s equivalent of the Grammy Awards) to be held tomorrow night. As you may know, Paula and her husband Jaques are special guests on a song from Rustic Materials’ upcoming album, “Only Trust Your Heart.” Jaques received a Prêmio Award nomination for Best Album for his album with Gilberto Gil, “Concerto de Cordas and Máquinas de Ritmo.” Good luck, Jaques and Paula! Boa sorte!

Rustic Materials is just getting started. We will be back in the studio on Tuesday of next week working on our first album, which should be released in the next three months. Our first album will be an album of original instrumentals - a project separate from the vocal project including the wonderful “Only Trust Your Heart” with Paula and Jaques Morelenbaum, which will be released later.
P.S., the Gilberto Gil show here in Atlanta Sunday was amazing! Everybody in RM is huge fan of Gilberto Gil.
Unfortunately, some of Rustic Materials band members missed the boat on purchasing tickets for Gilberto Gil’s upcoming show here in Atlanta. If you missed the boat as well, here is a track from a new DVD and CD of Gil’s European summer tour with Jaques Morelenbaum as his cellist, arranger and conductor (they played with the London Symphony on July 4).
As all good Rustic Materials fans know, Jaques Morelenbaum, a legendary Brazilian musician in his own right, recorded the Stan Getz/Astrud Gilberto classic “Only Trust Your Heart” with Rustic Materials a few months ago. (“Only Trust Your Heart” remains unreleased.)
